King Edward P.S. hosts a special program for students in Kindergarten and Grade 1. This program assists students with acquiring knowledge about letters, sounds and words.
This program was developed here in the Waterloo Region. It is a volunteer based program where volunteers actually work directly with students.
This is a great opportunity for parents to learn strategies to help their own children with gaining a better understanding of these basic skills. If you volunteered with this progra
you would be working with individual children but not your own child. This program involves about 1 hour per week, and you can develop your own schedule as long as it is consistent as possible.
This program will provide you with very specific training about exactly what to do. There are 2 half day training sessions. In order to become a volunteer for this program, a current police check is also required.
