June 21st, 2014
Along with all schools in the region and across the province, King Edward school will have all doors locked 24 hours a day starting in the fall. The purpose of this is to monitor safe access to our school to protect our students and staff. On Tuesday, June 24, we will be piloting the locked door procedure in order to test the process and the equipment.
Breakfast club arrivals begin at 8:40 am. Students may press the intercom to enter the school for breakfast club. Staff will assist students with entering the school at 9:10 am.
Parents and students are encouraged to arrive at school by 9:00 am in order to enter the school with their class on time. If you are late, you will need to enter through the front door using the intercom and report to the office.
There may be delays when you try and enter the school after 9:10 am. We have a very busy office, and during break times, or while dealing with other important issues in the school, there may not be immediate entry into the school after you press the intercom. We ask that you be patient until we are able to respond and open the door for you.
At the end of the day, parents will not be allowed entry to wait in the school for their children. Please find a meeting spot outside in our playground so that your child(ren) can meet with you there.
We ask that parents try and avoid coming to the school to drop off lunches and other items in the middle of the day, as every time you try and enter the school, it causes interuptions in the daily routines and tasks that are required in the office.
We appreciate your patience and understanding during this process.
